Banta History

Banta School first opened its doors in 1878 as the only school serving a rural, unincorporated area of San Joaquin County. From its earliest days, the school quickly became far more than a place of learning. It served as the heart of the community: a gathering place for meetings, celebrations, dances, worship services, civic events, and countless occasions that brought neighbors together. The founders of Banta understood that a strong school creates a strong community, and that belief has remained the foundation of our district for nearly a century and a half.
