Accelerated Reader

At Banta Elementary School, we believe that developing a love of reading is one of the most important gifts we can give our students. Our Accelerated Reader (AR) program encourages students to become confident, independent readers while allowing them to progress at their own pace and reading level.

Students choose from more than 150,000 Accelerated Reader titles and demonstrate their understanding by completing short computerized comprehension quizzes after finishing each book. As students read and successfully complete quizzes, they earn points that recognize both their effort and achievement.

To celebrate reading success, students earn incentives as they reach milestone point levels. Their first award is earned at 10 points, with additional recognition at 25, 50, 75, 100, 200, 300, and continuing every 100 points thereafter. Students reaching each 100-point milestone receive a certificate, commemorative medal, and recognition during our Mustang Assembly, where we celebrate their commitment to reading and learning.

Our AR program helps students build strong reading habits, improve comprehension, and discover the joy of reading while celebrating their accomplishments throughout the school year.
